Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid (Legal Aid) is seeking a personnel and accounting technician to assist with personnel, payroll, and accounts payable duties.  With funds from United Way, other private foundations, and local, state, and federal governments, Legal Aid employs over 150 staff, including 80 attorneys, to provide free civil legal services to low-income persons and others in Central Minnesota.  The position is located in the downtown Minneapolis administrative office which provides support to eight program offices.  Payroll is performed by a service bureau based on input supervised by the comptroller.  The general ledger and accounts payable are maintained on an in-house computer system.  Legal Aid is a nonprofit corporation and is audited annually.  The position is supervised by the comptroller.

NRRC Headquarters Sustainability Coordinator VISTA Opportunity

The VISTA member will implement a sustainability plan for the NRRC house and its environmental initiatives. This will involve researching and writing grant proposals to obtain funds for full implementation of this "healthy initiative--the NRRC House" including plans for a greenhouse, vegetable, herb, medicinal, and rain gardens, play structures, a wind turbine, and solar panels. Also, forging partnerships with corporate sponsors and recruiting champions (volunteers) to maintain NRRC headquarters and monitor the grounds regularly. To this end NRRC has already entered into a partnership with the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization to educate our staff about water use and run-off and implement a rain garden at the NRRC house.

This AmeriCorps VISTA serves full-time for 12 months in the MCN cohort. In-service benefits include: a living allowance (approximately $472 pre-tax biweekly); health care allowance (~$7,900 that can be applied to any out-of-pocket costs, but not premiums or dependents); $300 professional development fund; qualified student loan forbearance; $6,095 Education Award or cash stipend (approx. $1,800) upon successful completion of service; $750 settling-in allowance for VISTAs relocating more than 50 miles; access to MCN trainings for reduced price; and monthly professional development retreats.

This position permits part-time employment and/or part-time enrollment in school, not to exceed 20hrs/week.

Researcher 4 - Rural Health Research Center

The successful candidate for this position will participate in the design and implementation of rural health policy research projects and to support the dissemination of research findings. Research responsibilities include conducting comprehensive reviews of literature relevant to rural health research projects and synthesizing results; collaborating with research teams to collect and analyze data (qualitative and quantitative); and participating in the development of policy briefs, presentations, and peer-reviewed journal articles. Dissemination responsibilities include product design, layout and editing support, developing and implementing communications strategy, website and social media management, and coordinating external outreach to target audiences.

The Communications Associate is the sole communications staff person for the Minneapolis Youth Coordinating Board and is responsible for communications, IT and data base management.  The Communications Associate supports all YCB staff in their communications needs but works under the direction of the Executive Director.  This is a full-time position.

 

Responsibilities include managing web communications and social networking, updating and maintaining data bases, production and dissemination of a monthly newsletter and other promotional materials through GovDelivery.com and providing Communications support to staff.

 

Qualified candidates for the position of Communications Associate will have strong project management capabilities and familiarity with various electronic platforms. They will also be well organized and flexible with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of management and staff, elected officials, members of the public, and youth from diverse backgrounds as well as outside partners and vendors.

 

Gardener for Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

Performs lead work in the design and management of landscape plants.  Maintains horticultural specimens including trees, shrubs, perennial plants, annual plant displays, and hardscapes in public parks, formal garden areas, and natural areas.  Works with horticultural, planning and other MPRB staff to design and redesign garden areas each year to provide safe, innovative and aesthetically pleasing outdoor environment for patrons.
