Come to Juxtaposition Arts at Broadway and Emerson in North Minneapolis (checking which building it will start from) anytime after 5:30 for bike tune-ups and mingling, and the intro to the ride starts between 6:15 and 6:30. It is up to you to bring your own bike and helmet, but the team carries pumps and other necessary supplies like a boom box.
Arrive back to JXTA by 8:30 for dinner. Building will be open in case of rain and to allow access to restrooms.
AmeriCorps VISTA members serve as a catalyst for change, living and working alongside community members to meet our nation’s most pressing challenges and advance local solutions. You will work along with a group of 6 tenant organizers, placed in community-based sites across the metro, will assist, inform, educate, and engage tenants living in buildings that are at risk of loss of affordability and/or face substandard housing conditions. These positions require a person who relates well to and shows respect toward people from a variety of backgrounds.
The Zero Waste Challenge is an eight-month-long free program that works with households to take an in-depth look at the waste we create in the home, in an effort to uncover opportunities to recycle more and waste less. Households will receive hands-on coaching from a Hennepin County staff member, develop a personalized waste reduction plan fit to their home, have the opportunity to attend educational workshops, and more.
